Exciting Start and Rapid Progress on Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity Build

Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, MI in partnership with the St. Joseph County Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, kicked off an exciting new build in Three Rivers with a groundbreaking celebration in August. The project is led by, JD Yoder, Habitat for Humanity Construction Manager and Lincoln Klinger, CTE Construction Trades instructor. This initiative offers students at Three Rivers High School the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of home construction while giving back to the community.

The future home, a cozy two-bedroom, one-bath house, will be located in a convenient spot in Three Rivers. Designed with future growth in mind, the home will feature a spacious basement that’s prepped for the addition of a third bedroom and second bathroom, allowing the partner family to expand as needed. This partnership not only helps provide affordable housing but also teaches students valuable career and life skills.

The project is progressing rapidly. The site has been cleared, excavated, and the foundation is completed. It’s always exciting to watch the early stages of construction come together as the groundwork is laid for a lasting home. Further updates reveal that the garage is also nearly finished, providing both practical storage space and room for future family activities. As the framework comes together, the home is beginning to take shape, inching closer to becoming a warm, welcoming space for its future residents.

Throughout this process, students are gaining real-world skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and craftsmanship. Their hard work not only contributes to building a home but also instills a sense of pride and purpose, knowing that their efforts will make a lasting difference for a deserving family.

Stay connected for more updates on the progress of this home, and thank you to everyone who has supported or followed this project. Your contributions are building brighter futures through Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County!

Rapid progress is also happening on our latest build in Sturgis. The foundation, walls and roof are all complete and the interior framework is well under way! This will be a fantastic home for a future partner family with room to grow.

Ramping Up Our New Ramp Project!

Habitat’s Ramp program brings together community partners, skilled contractors, and dedicated volunteers to provide essential mobility solutions for families in need. By working together, the community helps build ramps, granting individuals the dignity and freedom to safely leave their homes and fully enjoy their living spaces for years to come.

Habitat's community volunteers play a crucial role in this program, contributing their time, skills, and compassion to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Together, we are building a more inclusive and supportive community, one ramp at a time.
